The driver's role

Lets face it ... Horses can sometimes seem like a bit of a nuisance when you are in a hurry to get the kids from school, make it to an important meeting or suchlike.

Even though we might sometimes feel this way, horses have as much right to the road as motorists ... After all, they came first!

Generally, riders would prefer to ride on bridleways and tracks well away from roads, however, it's often necessary to use roads to gain access to these tracks.

With this in mind, it makes sense to share the roads safely, after all, a horse might delay you for a couple of minutes ...

An accident can delay you for hours, months or years.

For sixteen horse riders a year the delay is terminal ...

Perhaps the first role of the driver is to understand a bit more about the problems faced by horse riders.
