Other people's space

It's heaven to have a space of your own, but are you ready for your own space in heaven? Corny I know, but nonetheless something that you should consider!

Other people need space around them in the same way that you need space around your vehicle. Respect the needs of others - everyone has a different perception of safe space ...

Some believe that they are immortal, while others are clearly over-cautious.

Before starting any manoeuvre, think about two things ...

1. Is it practical ...

2. Is it political ...

You might be a good driver, and understand the practicalities of safe overtaking - allowing for the vehicle you are driving and the prevailing road situation. Knowing when it is practical to overtake is always the first consideration - but it is not enough in itself.

If a perfectly safe manoeuvre is going to upset another driver or road user is ceases to be safe ...

Sharing the road with others means that we have to make 'political' decisions. Reading other road users (in terms of their behaviour) is part of the skill of 'reading the road' Get this wrong and you might find that the 'idiot' you are overtaking accelerates, leaving you faced with a very unforgiving truck from the opposite direction ...

Be considerate and never be a 'space-invader' or you may swap your current heaven for another one! (Or have a devil of a time in the next world earlier than you are anticipating?)
